My Mom has passed away.

Ma passed away on Monday, June 24, 2013 at 8:32am.

We actually had a moment on Saturday that we thought it was possible that she might improve.  However, hospice called me early Sunday morning to let me know that she was fading fast.

Sunday night I sat up with her all night long, but it was very clear that her body was in the process of shutting down, and I was reasonably sure that she would not ever regain consciousness - she didn't. 

She was not in pain.  She simply, peacefully slid away from us and was gone.

I ran home to get a bite to eat and a shower, and that is when she passed.

Later, a hospice nurse said that sometimes they don't like to leave if a family member is right there with them. That statement will always intrigue me.

I am okay with this. My relationship with my mother was solid, and we have talked many times about this. Her body has been more and more of a prison lately. One that she was relieved to leave behind.

So many people have been supportive. Thanks to all of you for your kind words and your praise of my Mom.
